Insuring proper Web browser page display

How your internet Web browser displays pages

Web browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome and Firefox use data caching to save Web pages and passwords on your computer or mobile device. This is done to help speed up your experience when navigating and displaying Web pages previously visited by retrieving much of the page's display information from your local computer instead of having to download it again over the network.

Potential issues displaying internet Web pages

The downside of caching can surface when certain elements of a Web site page is changed by the page author or a site password is changed by the page designer, which in reality doesn't have very often. When you go to that page, your browser will still use the older data it cached on your computer (before it was changed by the page designer) to display the page or enter a saved password despite what you may have just entered.

What the fix?

The remedy is to clear the browser's cache, which forces it to re-download page display information and use any passwords you just entered rather than outdated cached passwords.
