NOTE: This layout was dismantled and all equipment was sold at the Denver RMD-TCA auction in Sept 2003.
History: Darrel lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His train collection began with an American Flyer starter set around the Christmas tree. His son added to the large American Flyer collection by attending numerous shows, auctions and sales in the New York city area. Set construction was accomplished in the mid-eighties in the family home in the Springs.
Layout specifics:
The 130 square foot layout is a 14 foot wide and 12 foot deep U. The rear is covered with a mountain which also supports a HO scale dogbone. Scenic work reflects the materials of the mid-eighties and the set contains many figures and accessory pieces gathered over the years including trees from Darrel's golfing buddies birthday cakes.
